Which MAC foundation to use? Winnie reviews...

I'M BACK with a BRAND NEW product review!!! *Exciting*
Today I'm going to be reviewing two Mac foundation products, one that I've tried out fairly recently and giving you my honest opinion to help you choose the right foundation for you.

Without further a do, we will jump straight into it, starting from the left

Mac Studio Fix Fluid foundation - to the left

If you don't know this is my favourite foundation and my go-to foundation. I've never been one to change my foundation just because of the lack of knowledge on cosmetic items out there and the lack of human resources available - who were actually willing to help inform me about which ones are right for me. That's why I'm writing up this post to save you the time and hassle.

This product stands at the average high street price of £24.50 (I know pricey right? - But let's not forget that Mac is a high end/luxury cosmetics brand).

It's packaged in a thick glass bottle (still able to smash if you're not mindful - be careful not to drop this product); and a foundation pump is a necessity for it. Mac do supply pumps for this foundation but they're sold separately at £4.50. Now I don't know about you but that's pretty pricey (in my opinion). But, they're reusable so you don't need to keep repurchasing them - which compensates for the price - I guess.

The pumps are a guide to help you manage applying your foundation in moderation. It squeezes out the right amount of product needed to cover a full face.

What I like about Mac Studio Fix Fluid foundation is that ...
  • Its beginner friendly - If you don't know where to begin with foundation, start here, it's super easy to work with and stress free
  • It has excellent coverage - strong ability to cover dark spots, acne marks and even out hyper pigmented skin - it's actually designed to cover up problem skin
  • The consistency is average - it's a liquid product, quite thick but not runny
  • It's ability to reflect my shade is rather good - I have a yellow undertone and no problems with this at all
  • It's long lasting - This product can last you up to a year depending on how frequent you wear make-up. I swear make-up often so it lasts me 2 months ( I still shop every month for it)
FYI: my shade is NC45

What I don't like about Mac Studio Fix Fluid foundation: (or MAC products in general)
  • It feels quite heavy on the skin - if you prefer a lightweight foundation this product is probably not ideal for you. Or you might want to use it in smaller moderation
  • They don't supply foundations that actually help with problem skin - this product breaks me out (I try not to keep my make-up on for long as I have acne-sensitive, irritable skin)
  • You can't finish the bottle to the brim (considering the price it can be considered a rip off) - 9/10 there is still a lot of the product remaining due to the pumps inability to navigate around the full perimeter of the foundation bottle - yet it still is a good product
Just wanted to illustrate the benefits and disadvantages of this product. (That's a blogger's job. Right?)

Mac Studio Sculpt Foundation - to the right

This foundation was actually a gift from a family member, unfortunately she got my shade wrong. But I still made it work with some lighter shade concealers.

It's has a toothpaste-like formation and is squeezable, which is somewhat easier depending on how you like to use your foundation and ... if you're not the delicate type. But be careful not to sit on it - *bad sight*

This product stands at the average high street price of £27.50 (I know even pricier right?)

What I like about Mac Studio Sculpt Foundation ... :

  • It has excellent coverage - the product is very thick and covers marks, uneven skin tones etc , you don't need to use too much at all
  • It's plastic and squeezable - no need to worry too much about dropping this product by accident
  • It may look slim but it's long lasting
  • No extra products needed or sold separately - apart from a beauty blending sponge or foundation brush to apply it on

What I don't like about Mac Studio Sculpt Foundation ... :

  • It has a very thick creamy consistency - this product breaks me out like crazy which I absolutely hate
  • It's oily which can make one look unnecessarily oily and glossy (a mattifying powder should be carried about. I use Mac translucent powder )
FYI (For your information):

  • The foundation brush I use to apply my foundation is by Bella and Bear and can be found here - It's an excellent applicator
  • If you're skin is sensitive to bristles then you can use a Beauty blending sponge - I use ones by  Real Techniques

This is all I'm covering today,

I hope this post was informative and has covered all of your questions, concerns and queries that you may have had about these products or foundation in general.
I honestly enjoy writing up reviews so let me know if this was useful and comment on what you would like to see next.
